Betavine is an open mobile application community.The Betavine Team are continually seeking new ways of exploring our “crowdsourcing” platform. They have a very active Open Source activity and are now about to trial a new concept – the Betavine Social Exchange. See http://crowdtalk.wordpress.com for details.

In summary, the BSX seeks to bring NGOs with “challenges” together with mobile developers with “solutions”. They believe that developers around the world would be willing to help NGOs in developing countries to find appropriate mobile solutions to support their work.The website is currently under contruction and is due to start a pilot in South Africa with Vodacom in October. CHIRAD is the Centre for Health Informatics Research and Development.Its aim is to provide an environment for the development of Health Informatics as an academic subject. CHIRAD is a company limited by guarantee that is a non-for-profit organisation. It is probably the first virtual R&D centre for Health Informatics.
