To give an idea of what a barcamp look like watch this short movie from BarCamp San Francisco with statements about the idea behind BarCamp (with Tara Hunt, Tantek Celik, Ryan King and others):
Hey, don’t stress!
BarCamps are fun! They’re social!
You’ll meet a whole raft of interesting people and hear a lot of really great talks.
The central prop of any BarCamp is the social interaction; so don’t worry about your talk not being polished enough, or that you don’t necessarily know anyone.
We promise that by Sunday 8 November you’ll know loads of people and will have made some great new contacts !
Just some idea of what to bring to BarCamp Cameroon :
* Willingness to participate: you don't have to lead a meeting, but you shouldn't be a wall flower either...
* Positive attitude: You're going to hear a lot of different ideas - come with an open mind and ears !
* Demos: got something cool you're working on? Bring it along and share it !
* Business cards: you'll be doing a lot of networking !
* Digital camera: Pictures help explain what went on at the meeting
Happy Friday!
If you use Twitter, you may have noticed a tradition called "Follow Friday."
On Fridays, many Twitter users recommend other Twitter accounts that people should follow.
Since BarCampCameroon is coming very soon, I am writing to ask all our BarCampCameroon Twitter users to help BarCampCameroon attract more followers, since there will be more and more news to share as we get closer.
Here's an example Twitter message you can use:
#FollowFriday @BarCampCameroon. BarCampCameroon happens on 11/07 ! http://www.barcampcameroon.org #BarCampCameroon #FF
Fyi, those hashes (or number signs) are a convention on Twitter called hashtags that make it easy to follow different threads.
